Each entrant must submit a completed official entry form on the ECTA website. Doubles partners must each submit a completed entry form with individual entry fees. Entry Fees: $30, plus yearly ECTA membership of $25 Entry fees may be paid online after submitting the form on this page or by mailing a check for receipt no later than September 13 to:

AGREEMENT TO ASSUME RISKS AND TO HOLD HARMLESS:

As a condition for entry, I, my family, and my heirs do hereby agree to assume all risks associated with my participation in this tournament and to hold Evanston Community Tennis Association, the Tournament Directors and Referee, the City of Evanston, Northwestern University, and the Evanston 4th of July Association, including their officers, boards of directors, committees, members, affiliates, and employees, jointly and severally harmless from any and all suits or claims resulting from any injury or accident that results from my participation in this tournament, regardless of cause.

MIXED DOUBLES

NUMBER OF PLAYERS:

If fewer than four players enter 3.5 (intermediate) singles, that category will be eliminated and those players will be moved into open singles. If fewer than eight players enter 3.5 (intermediate) doubles, that category will be eliminated and those players will be moved into open doubles

ELIGIBILITY:

This is an open tournament. You need not belong to the USTA to participate. However, you must be a member of the Evanston Community Tennis Association. Membership is valid for one full year from the day on which you paid. Players must be 16 or older to enter.

OPEN-LEVEL EVENTS:

These events are for any participant, up to and including a USTA level of 5.0. Club pros and more advanced level players may be eligible at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

3.5 (INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL) EVENTS:

These events are intended to provide players of mid-level ability the opportunity to compete against their performance-level peers rather than in the open events. Players with NTRP ratings higher than 3.5 or similar abilities are ineligible for these events. In terms of local leagues rated A, B, and C, the intermediate events are limited to players at levels B and C. The definition of a 3.5 player can be found on the USTA website.

POSTING OF EVENTS AND DRAWS:

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to cancel or combine events with insufficient entrants. (If cancellation leaves an entrant without any event in the tournament, that entrant’s fee will be refunded.) The tournament events and draws will be emailed by the the day before the event and posted onsite the day of the event.

MATCH FORMAT:

Each match will be a no-ad pro-set. All matches will follow a modified round-robin format. The winner of each category of play will be determined by total number of matches and games won. There will be no additional finals matches.

MATCH RULES:

ITF rules of tennis govern all tournament matches. Comments in USTA’s “Friend at Court” also are applicable. The Code for unofficiated matches governs all tournament matches except those played with chair umpires. The ITF rules and the Code are in “Friend at Court” on the USTA website at www.usta.com/Improve-Your-Game/Rules; click on Tennis Rules & Regulations in the middle of the page.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION:

Any dispute should be settled by the players in accordance with the tournament’s Match Rules or by directing an inquiry promptly to the Tournament Referee(s).

DEFAULTS:

Any entrant may be defaulted for the following: failure to appear for a scheduled match; inability to complete a match in progress due to injury, illness, or personal emergency; failure to maintain the tournament schedule, including scheduled semi-final or championship matches; and any other grounds specified under the tournament’s Match Rules. The Tournament Director has discretion to default a single player/team or both players/teams whose match is not completed by the deadline. All potential default situations must be ruled on by Tournament Director before they are effective.

Match results will be posted at www.evanstontennis.org.
