Categories of Play: Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles. Men’s and Women’s Doubles will commence at 8:30 a.m., and Mixed Doubles will commence at Noon or sooner, depending on the size of the Men’s and Women’s Doubles draws. You may enter up to two events.

Match Format: Round-Robin, No-Ad scoring

Entry Fees: $20, plus yearly ECTA membership of $25 (see below)

Your ECTA membership is good for 12 months and is on a calendar-rolling basis, so if you are a current member, you need only pay the tournament registration fee; otherwise, you must pay both membership and tournament registration fee. EVENTS PER PERSON:

A player may ENTER ONLY TWO EVENTS: one singles and one doubles. Entry fee covers up to two events. Please include e-mail addresses for both doubles partners when you enter. E-mail will be the primary method of communication about the progress of the tournament.

ENTRY FORM:

Each entrant must submit a completed official entry form on the ECTA website. Doubles partners must each submit a completed entry form with individual entry fees. Entry fees may be paid online through PayPal after submitting the form on this page or by mailing a check to:

As a condition for entry, I, my family, and my heirs do hereby agree to assume all risks associated with my participation in this tournament and to hold Evanston Community Tennis Association, the Tournament Directors and Referee, the City of Evanston, Northwestern University, and the Evanston 4th of July Association, including their officers, boards of directors, committees, members, affiliates, and employees, jointly and severally harmless from any and all suits or claims resulting from any injury or accident that results from my participation in this tournament, regardless of cause.

MIXED DOUBLES

ELIGIBILITY:

This is an open tournament. However, YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE EVANSTON COMMUNITY TENNIS ASSOCIATION to participate. Membership is valid for one full year from the day on which you paid. Players must be 16 or older to enter.

OPEN-LEVEL EVENTS:

These events are for any participant, up to and including a USTA level of 5.0. Club Pros and more advanced level players may be eligible at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL EVENTS:

These events are intended to provide players of mid-level ability the opportunity to compete against their performance-level peers rather than in the open events. Players with NTRP ratings higher than 3.5 or similar abilities are ineligible for these events. In terms of local leagues rated A, B, and C, the intermediate events are limited to players at levels B and C. The definition of a 3.5 player can be found on the USTA website.

POSTING OF EVENTS AND DRAWS:

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to cancel or combine events with insufficient entrants. (If cancellation leaves an entrant without any event in the tournament, that entrant’s fee will be refunded.) The tournament events and draws will be posted onsite the day of the event.

MATCH FORMAT:

Saturday’s matches will be a modified round-robin format. Winners from each group will proceed to single-elimination play on Sunday.

MATCH RULES:

ITF rules of tennis govern all tournament matches. Comments in USTA’s “Friend at Court” also are applicable. The Code for unofficiated matches governs all tournament matches except those played with chair umpires. The ITF rules and the Code are in “Friend at Court” on the USTA website at www.usta.com/Improve-Your-Game/Rules; click on Tennis Rules & Regulations in the middle of the page.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION:

Any dispute should be settled by the players in accordance with the tournament’s Match Rules or by directing an inquiry promptly to the Tournament Referee(s).

DEFAULTS:

Any entrant may be defaulted for the following: failure to appear for a scheduled match; inability to complete a match in progress due to injury, illness, or personal emergency; failure to maintain the tournament schedule, including scheduled semi-final or championship matches; and any other grounds specified under the tournament’s Match Rules. The Tournament Director has discretion to default a single player/team or both players/teams whose match is not completed by the deadline. All potential default situations must be ruled on by Tournament Director before they are effective.

Match results will be posted at www.evanstontennis.org. Please note that all final communications and information will be posted on the ECTA website and/or through our email blast. Please inquire with the Tournament Director if you have questions.

Match Format: Round-Robin 6-game, No Ad, pro-sets in Stage One. Teams will be placed into brackets of four and play three matches per bracket. The top two teams in each bracket will advance to Stage Two in the afternoon, which will be single-elimination with 8-game pro-sets.
You may enter up to two events.

Note: Depending on how many players register, some categories may be merged or adjusted.

Final draw sheets will be on site the morning of the tournament.

Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in and warm-up.
